#Begin With A Purpose In Mind
I’ve been in business and provided advice to other businesses for many years, and like my background in accounting, there are some good processes, systems, methodologies that you can use to grow and operate your business and be successful.
But it wasn’t until I ran a purpose-led business that I realised how all of this can be so much easier, so much more fun, and so much more rewarding.
If you exercise then you’ve probably experienced that feeling of the adrenalin buzz and you feel excited, alive and confident, and the rest!
Well operating a purpose-led business was like that for me.
When you are clear about your business purpose, you live and breathe it everyday, and you lead with purpose it becomes both empowering and strategically advantageous.
· You can easily differentiate from competitors
· You don’t go chasing sales – clients come to you
· Decision making is simplified - you have a ‘compass’
· You have a queue of talent lined up at the door
· Your team are aligned, engaged, more social and become daily opportunity spotters
· It’s potentially easier to get capital / investment funding, and
· You love what you do!
Even if you think you have a clear idea of your ‘purpose’, you can occasionally lose your way….your team may lose alignment, you’ve made a couple of decisions that don’t align with your purpose, you may find yourself changing your pitch and considering what marketing you do next?
But a clearly defined purpose is like a compass - it guides the way with everything you do, and measuring your purpose achievements along with strategy, keeps you mindful and on track.
And if you ‘began with the end in mind’ thinking about your eventual exit or retirement that's probably a long way off.
A purpose for your business is a strategic asset. If you’re not a purpose-led business and any of this resonates, ‘begin with a purpose in mind’ instead. #BWAPIM
